Chew Gum and Grow Bigger Boobs?

November 8th, 2007

Here is a funny website that only the internet could provide - Zoft Breast Enhancement Gum! This “all natural” product claims to be a valid alternative for women who fear plastic surgery and its side effects. The Zoft gum ingredient list is actually quite good - asuming it really does contain these herbs. Products like these are not tested by the FDA. The sad truth is that thousands of real medical studies prove that none of these herbs have the ability to increase breast size.

Were does all this come from? A company called B2UP (do a google search) claims that these gums work by slowly releasing compounds contained in an extract from a plant called Pueraria mirifica, also known as Kwao Krua. This compound is usually found in Thailand and Burma.

“B2Up says that it is the effect of these two chemicals, coupled with a third phytooestrogen isoflavone, which makes its gum so effective. It cites tests carried out by Thailand’s Chulalongkorn University which found Pueraria mirifica therapy was able to enhance breast size by 80%.”

80%? Anytime you see an advertisement for increasing your bust online or in a magazine, remember that if it sounds too good to be true - it probably is. 80% is a huge increase in breast size. If this were true, every woman alive would be chewing this gum, drinking bust enhancing tea, and using these creams. We just have to laugh at it and hope that young girls don’t get scammed by these companies.

People are selling these products on ebay. :(

  2. DisneyLover says:

These companies are allowed to sell products that do not work because the government does not regulate the sale of these so called beauty products.

Like Sara mentions, except for drugs prescribed by doctors, consumer beauty products do not require government approval or testing. One positive article in the New York Times mentioned last month that thanks to the FTC, the company that makes Bloussant was ordered to return millions of dollars to customers who bought their products based on false advertising. The FTC explained that the company falsely claimed that Bloussant is clinically proven to increase bust size. But here is the kicker - the company can continue to sell their products, but they can no longer make false claims - so Bloussant is very careful with their wording these days. It is still a scam, but a carefully worded one.

Remind me never to send my daughter -or son for that matter- to Thailand’s Chulalongkorn University. What a crock!

  4. Rosie says:

80% HA! They didn’t even try to be believable!

  5. dale says:

I wonder how many “men” buy this gum for their girlfriends and expect results? Both genders are getting scammed.

  6. Boris says:

LOL this one takes the cake! If it were true, every woman & all of her pets would be taking this and all plastic surgeons would be out of a job! “NOT ****** LIKELY!”

  7. Asia says:

I have tried it and it actually works pretty well. It’s big in London. They have the data to back it up. If you google and see what BBC has said about it you would be surprised.

  8. Shannon H. says:

Oh come on Asia. You must work for one of the companies making this claim. Post links to pictures of yourself - before and after. There is no way this gum makes any difference. I did do a google search and found nothing to back up the claims about Pueraria Mirifica extracts.

  9. J says:

Boris, I think that plastic surgeons are relying on the fact that people think it’s silly and are not willing to try it. Therefore, we don’t really know if they work or not. And even if they did work, nobody would believe those who tried it, and surgeons probably wouldn’t want many people to know about it because if they did, then the surgeons would be out of a job, as you said. If more people were open to the nonsurgical alternatives to breast enlargement, things would be different. The problem is that people think that surgery is the only way to go. Whether or not the other methods work is a different story. The first step is being open to possible alternatives.

Asia, it’s great that you say that you tried it and say that it works. But like Shannon says, the only way to be certain is by posting before and after pictures of yourself. Research has been done on pueraria mirifica. I just searched for “pueraria mirifica breast enlargement” on google scholar and found a whole list of links. I haven’t looked at them in detail yet and I suggest you see for yourself because you may disagree with my interpretation. I’d also search other places like university libraries for more information.

At first I thought it was silly, but when reading the explanation from one of these chewing gum sites, I think I understand what they are saying. If PM really does enlarge breasts, and does so when consumed, then it does make sense that you can get PM extracts through chewing gum. The whole idea of chewing gum for this purpose is that the PM extracts can be released from the gum and absorbed into the bloodstream through the thinner tissues of the tongue. But does it work? That remains to be seen.

If it sounds too good to be true…besides, unless the gum has little robots or nano technology or the ability to alter DNA or testosterone or estrogen…nothing will change in your body when you chew it. I found bust enhancing coffee, tea, various milks, and even soda over in Japan when I was there…but I saw maybe 2 busty Japaneese girls. If it sounds too good to be ture…

the fact that a few people would even consider this to be effective makes me laugh myself silly - give me a break!

  12. CJ Wilson says:

“Zoft Breast Enhancement Gum promotes the reactivation and proliferation of the necessary hormones. Your body will once again encourage breast growth, this time under the careful control of Zoft’s special blend of natural herbs.”

Even if this was true, who the heck wants to mess around with their hormones? That is dangerous! This company is so full of crap.

  13. alison says:

But the difference is that this company selling the product is asking for money. This has nothing to do with intolerance and bigotry since they have proven nothing themselves to back up what they say this product is capable of. This isn’t a matter of a product that might work for “some” people - this product and those similar have NEVER produced measurable results for ANYONE in the world. How can that be a coincidence?

  14. Heather G. says:

I like how Sara put this article in the Humor section of hiddenfeet.com :)

  15. J says:

I see your point, Alison. I guess if there was a free sample there’d be nothing to lose by trying (actually, there’s the possibility of unintended side effects for anything you take into your system). However, if they’re charging an arm and a leg to try something based on heresay, I’d say forget it.

  16. Faith says:

Not to mention that the “money back guarantee” is only as good as the company that backs it. I do not trust them. An 80% increase in breast size? LOL!

Not necessarily Boris, having “boobs” isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be. How about not being able to swing a bat, or the back ache you get while doing mundane chores like ironing clothes or washing dishes? I have a hard time cleaning the bathroom, it’s always a fight between me, my boobs, the toilet and the counter to clean the floor in the nooks and crannies men seem to find while going to the bathroom.

I don’t hate my breasts, but I don’t think I’d personally be first in line (or in line at all) to try a product that promises bigger breasts. Us women are a little different than men with the notion of size. We have to walk around with ours on our chest and have had to deal with the presence or lack there of for all the world to see.

I don’t want to sound like I’m bashing your point of view, just giving you another view from the other end of the table ;)

Even if the pills, creams, lotions and food worked, there would still be girls wanting to be thinner and flatter. I find that girls style their physical bodies as much as they style their clothing these days. Often one will influence the other. While many girls would want to be big and bouncy, just as many would want a slim athletic look. My breasts would be much too cumbersome if they were to grow larger. So imo not everyone would want to be bustier.
