Natasha Courtenay Smith recently published this compelling article about breast size for Dailymail.co.uk.

It will come as no surprise to Hiddenfeet readers that her findings indicate a pattern of increasing breast size that continues into each successive generation. The bad news is that it seems that the most significant and likely explanation for the world’s growing bust size is a result of all round weight gain. The average female waist has risen from 27.5 inches to 34 inches in the last six decades. The larger women become overall, the larger a women’s breasts will become.

The pill and the artificial hormones in the food chain are dismissed as possible reasons for breast sizes increasing in young girls.

Read the article and you will find that it is loaded with interesting quotes - this one being our favorite:

“I love having big breasts. When I get dressed up to go out in the evenings, I make the most of it. It makes for a great neckline and my friends associate me with my big chest. I wouldn’t want to be known any other way.”

Hiddenfeet applauds the positive attitude!

British women have the biggest breasts in Europe and these are some of the stats floating around the web.

Percentage of women wearing cup size: D C B A

    UK 57 18 19 6
    Denmark 50 19 24 7
    Netherlands 36 27 29 8
    Belgium 28 28 35 9
    France 26 29 38 7
    Sweden 24 30 33 14
    Greece 23 28 40 9
    Switzerland 19 24 43 14
    Austria 11 27 51 10
    Italy 10 21 68 1

The Italians where small with 68 per cent having a size B. But I thought pasta and all it’s carbohydrates would make these women plump. Seems like it’s the fatty meats in the diet of UK women that plump them out.

Smaller food portions are one of the main reasons Italians are able to keep the pounds off.

A part of me subscribes to the theory that one of the reasons we notice larger sizes is just that women with larger breasts are trying to fit into constrictive bras. Also different kinds of fabrics are now being used to create bras means and this can mean that breasts look different. Bra styles are no doubt more voluptuous no matter what size we wear.

Interesting how many girls posted comments mentioning the opposite - that their boobs are smaller then that of their parents and grandparents.

One thing this article doesn’t mention is how the hourglass shape is becoming more common now a days. My mother never dressed to slim her hip-line like girls do now. Now we dress to emphasize the bust and butt. And along with a high fat high calorie diet girls will naturally seem so much more voluptuous. Remember the big boxy belts that women wore around their tummies? Not any more!
