How Theresa and Tonya Lucas Try on Bras

- We look for a fitting room that is secluded and private.
- After entering the room I remove all upper clothing and smile while looking in the mirror.
- My mother and I have a quick mental flash back about smaller breasted days. Days when I could pull a sweater over my head and it would fall straight down. I grew so fast!
- Then we fish through the pile of bras the sales person gave us. We look for large bras that are affordable yet practical. I do not like changing my bra half way through the day.
- Now we put the bra on.
- I hook myself into the new bra and make sure everything is in place.
- While trying not to giggle I jump up and down to test for support. My mom likes to be silly and push me and pretend like I am clumsy when I am jumping and bouncing.
- After jumping up and down several times my mom says to make sure the back bra strap falls horizontal across the back. My bra should not ride up my back. My mother says that most people do not realize that this is where most of your bra support comes from - not the shoulder straps.
- I then put my shirt back on and make sure my breasts do not poke out of the cups. I may need a larger cup size if this happens with several bras.
- If everything goes well I choose a couple pretty bras, look in the mirror as I leave and say “I Love My Hiddenfeet!”
Theresa - The girls and I at Hiddenfeet could not wait to publish your little story.
It is wonderful to see a mother and daughter having fun together and embracing your large chest. You look absolutely adorable in the pictures you emailed us. We love the pictures of you skiing with your family.
Keep on giggling and laughing just like we do here at Hiddenfeet!
I have to admit that I jump up and down like a mad woman when I try on bra’s at Victoria Secrets too. I am sure employees can see my head - I am tall - bobbing up and down in the dressing rooms. Nobody has ever said anything to me so I asume it’s expected that us busty girls have to do this. :)
It’s such a coincidence that the anti-spam word I had to type for this message is “happy” because I’m happy to read what you’ve written, Theresa! I sense you and your mom have no shame and guilt and discomfort over having hiddenfeet. After hearing so many large breasted women complain about how their breasts are burdening them and how ashamed they are and how they wish they were smaller, it’s a welcome relief to see that you love and appreciate your body the way it is! If only everyone else appreciated their bodies as much as you do, the world would be a much better place. I surely hope other girls with hiddenfeet will follow in your (hidden) footsteps.
I think the jump test or bounce test is also important because it can test the quality of the band in the bra. I find that I need a bra closure of around 4 hooks. Any smaller and the band won’t be able to support the rest of the bra and my boobs. Larger might get annoying as 5 hook bands are going to be about 3″ tall, which can fold and be uncomfortable but I am getting used to a few of my bras with bands that large. They can look like a granny bra or nursing bra under thin clothing so it is best to wear thick bands under thick clothing.
I remember getting fitted once and was told kindly that I was developing sloped shoulders because my bra band was too high on my back. I found a bra that crosses level in the middle on my back that doesn’t slip off my shoulders and it help a lot when I was younger. A bra does influence posture so I like reading stories about girls who understand a proper fitting.
Helpful story and I hope other young girls read and remember these tips. Isn’t the internet great?
My mom says that cup support can be tested with jumping around. She says that I should have no boob spillage out of the sides, bottom, or top. If you have spillage, try one size larger cup, or the same cup size and one size larger band because you don’t want gapping between the top of your breast and the cup. I try on DOZENS of bras when I go shopping with my mom. Though my friends always tell me to buy their favorites, they never seem to fit me right. My mom says no two boobs are alike.
The “jump test” is vital. I use it to check to see how a new bra digs into my back and shoulders or how the underwire and cups support me. There are sooooo many times that my boobs bounce during everyday activities - going up stairs, getting up from bending over, turning the body quickly, and even a brisk walk and start boobs in motion.
When I was growing up I made the mistake of just concentrating on the shoulder straps and cups and ignoring the band and hooks in the back. The band can control how much digging a bra does elsewhere on your body. My breast grew so fast when I was younger that I never took the time to learn how to fit them. This is a cute mother daughter story that is heartwarming to read! I will pass this along to my friends.

Lately my mood has flipped between “I love my Hiddenfeet” to “Can I leave these things at home?” For me it is not so much social trouble as much as just tring to control the bouncing. My boob material must be made of silly putty or something from space. They bobble with a mind of their own and it can tickle. I am wearing more jog bras around campus to control my boobs. I think it is helping. Good ones are expensive :(
Nice to see young girls who understand clothing. Hopefully these girls are able to find jog bras with straps that are made of a non-itchy material. My skin must be sensitive but I do have trouble finding bras with a smooth finish. My parents tell me that I might need to change my detergent when I wash them. Could that be my problem? Most of my jog bras start off well but I hate them a few months later.
I am noticing lots of fitting rooms not so secluded and private these days. Walmart and Target stores seems to have some of the lowest fitting room walls I have ever seen. I am tall, 5 foot 10, and my head is often high above these walls. I know people can’t see anything and I guess I don’t care much but I do see men watching me take clothing off the racks and into the dressing rooms. They know exactly where I am and what I am doing and I get shy to hop around. I shop late at night on week days now just to keep people from looking. I need to get the courage to just forget about it and bounce bounce bounce my way to a nice bra. Maybe if I make enough of a scene a crowd will gather. Some day I will get the courage to yell “I love my Hiddenfeet.” If I get thrown out of Walmart it’s your fault Sara! Kidding :)

All kidding aside, I do agree that it has become harder to find a private room when shopping for bras. If your really shy, just try it on at home and return it. Stores are getting better return policies to help women who shop for clothing that needs to be “lived in” for a while. I’ve had to this a few times when I was shopping late and the fitting rooms were closed.
cute story! wish every parent was that cool.
