The other example is the anime show called Dragonauts: The Resonance. There are several large breasted women in this show, and except for occasional moments showing bounciness, these women are playing mostly serious roles. One of these women is a professor, and another one is a dragon. (some characters are dragons, and they can transform from human form into a huge vehicle that another character can pilot. This dragon character, named Machina, has very large breasts. And she also has special powers and is at an equal level of power with the male dragon teammates. She, like the others, doesn’t do anything deliberately to flaunt her body. There is one scene in the show that I linked with the URL in which her master, a young woman named Akira, describes in detail just how special Machina is to her. It starts at 13:43. But I wouldn’t watch the rest of the episode beyond 19:24 unless you want to spoil the plot in a bad way.

Jenny Fields, Hester, Melony, Tabitha Wheelwright, Franny, etc., are all courageous, strong women. Furthermore, the Irving heroes often cheat or otherwise have dalliances with flat-chested women, who are usually shifty, cruel and untrustworthy.

Irving’s boob-love might reach its zenith in “A Widow For One Year.” I’m not kidding — he must mention the lead character’s breasts or bra size on every other page. Though to be fair, I haven’t read all of his books.

It is the nipple that takes center stage. And like Janet said there are thousands of articles devoted to TVs stars like Jennifer Aniston that talk specifically about her boobs/nipples.

Plus I wouldn’t worry too much about what TMZ says. TMZ is a gossip website designed to create controversy. They post all kinds of crap. Its not Popular Science or National Geographic.

Watch about 45 seconds into that breast reduction video where the girls mother says that her daughters big boobs look horrible. And it is her own MOTHER! Again this is an example of someone else telling a girl with big boobs how they think the boobs should look.

I totally agree with you about small boobs dee but imo the hate is equal between big and small chested girls. IMO it is the b and c cup girls that have an easier time. Being average is easy. Being unique is the challenge.

Ever looked at those “Best Celebrity Breast” lists? Always has women that are no smaller than a C cup. I remember seeing somewhere a list of top ten small women or something, and there were comments like “Keira Knightley is so attractive, she just looks like she SHOULD have big boobs.” So half the time such lists end up being a consolation prize or exercise in “awww, you’re special too!”

Let’s face it, to most people, small boobs != sexy.

Do a google search for small breasts, and see how many pages you get asking if men like small breasts. Why would this be? And I have yet to hear a busty woman told that she does not look sexy or like a woman, or made fun of because of her boobs.

But anyway, I was also mostly speaking on animation and video games, as that’s more of my realm and I don’t follow celebrities as much. And I can honestly say that most times when you have female heroines, especially the most popular ones, they are busty. Sure you can have smaller ones as heroines, but that’s more like the real-life equivalent of “oh she’s ugly, but she sure can do math!” or something like that. And besides, most of the people who design the characters are men, and they’re drawing what they want to see, what they would have for themselves if they could. Women with small boobs are generally not on that list, even if that’s what they settle for in real life, it’s not the ideal for them.

The list goes on and on with Julia Stiles, Jennifer Garner, Cameron Diaz, Calista Flockhart, Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron, Shakira, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Kirsten Dunst, Julia Roberts, Gwen Stefani, Kate Moss, Keira Knightley and Jennifer Lopez to name a few. And these stars have very small boobs. Most are barely a b-cup.

We remember actresses like Jennifer Love Hewitt and Pam Anderson (fake boobs) because they are famous FOR their boobs, not their acting or movies. But if you were to really sit down and do the math, small – and I do mean really small – boobed women always get the greatest media attention.

As for sexualiztion of boobs in the media. Yes im in total agreement! Im sick of it. Beauty and sex are two different things. But I rarely see boobs portrayed as being beautiful in America these days – except for this website.

I’m a game maker, and everyone tells me that I need to “sex up” my characters and whatnot. My main heroine is unattractive-to-average in the face, and flatchested, and she kicks the butts of all the pervy guys and skanky chicks (not saying that big boobs are automatically skanky, you can be skanky either way). There’s too much sex in the media, and this will be a huge middle-finger to those who continue to put that stuff out and contribute to it. And, my game will provide a hero for those average/less than average people among us ;)

Moving on, at least large breasts don’t get ignored and are generally treated favorably. I’ve seen plenty of media where smaller women get ignored or even made fun of. Lina Inverse from Slayers comes to mind. Yeah, that sure makes us smaller ladies feel good…

The episode is pretty peculiar as it shows many of the downsides of having large breasts, the unwanted attention, unexpected treats, and obsession with society towards a nice cleavage.

At the end Marge gets the implants removed and goes back to normal.

-Jessica Rabbit caused many parents to not take their kids to see Who Framed Roger Rabbit. The same happened with Cool World, but that was a more adult themed movie anyway.

-In mainstream anime, large breasted women are usually depicted one of two ways; dim and silly (Milly from Trigun and Tomoko from GTO) or boisterous and irrational (Tsunade from Naruto, Naga from Slayers).

These are just a few of the examples of the way larger than average breasts get a bum deal. Very, very rarely do you see a fictional chesty character that isn’t a sex symbol or treated as such. Even one of my more favorite large breasted characters, Anita Blake, over time became yet another statistic as Laurel K got lazy and turned half of each of her books into porno instead of the good story driven novels she first put out.
