Great tips for nursing moms with large breasts.

I encourage my clients to not be surprised when the breast volume exceeds the size of the child’s head. That quote is directly from my husband. At first the client looks at me incredulously, but comes back and says that’s just what happened.

Also, unlike small breasted women, the large breast mama will have to hold her breast up, giving it support.

Unfortunately, the best nursing bra (goddess 511) was just discontinued, but the manufacturer told me something good was on its way.

I loved the goddess 511 carissa! My husband purchased four of them for me when I had my daughter. Soft, comfortable, great support, washed easily. It was a little too thick under my clothing but apart from that it was perfect. Any news on what it is being replaced with?

My large chested friends nurse on their sides while laying down. They place their kids on pillows to raise them and it works well.

As for bras they use Bravado like this one. Not big on support because they are soft cup but excellent for comfort.

Medela bras worked the best for me when I had my daughter. They would be able to stretch enough to support my breasts when they would swell. Plus they washed up well and cleaned easily enough. Like Andrea says, they are not supportive enough for active wear but they are perfect for around the house or light activities outside.
