Super Size My Bra
Another great article showcasing the British need for larger cup sizes. Sheffield lingerie brand Panache are ready to swell their size range to a mammoth K-cup. The bra company is asking busty girls with J and K sized breasts to come forward and help test out the prototypes.
Panache calls their line of GG, H, HH, J and JJ bras Superbras! Panache currently offers sizes from a D to G cup. But for many women they say, it’s simply not big enough. K-cup to the rescue!
“Image programs have raised women’s awareness about the importance of properly fitting underwear and the need to get measured. There is still a huge number of women in the wrong sized bras out there. But a growing number are getting measured – and are very surprised to find they are a much bigger cup size than they thought.”
Amazingly in 1982, the biggest cup size Panache made prior to this was a DD.

I own a few Panache superbra’s. I enjoy them.
Always expensive – hovering around $50 for the styles I like. The underwires are flexible and comfortable to wear all day. Most of them are designed with scalloped edges.
Happy Holidays Sara!
A woman created this Amazon Guide that highlights some of the better Minimizer Bras available. But like all things in life – test drive before you buy!
The Bali Flower Underwire was uncomfortable for me and has a line across the middle of the breasts that pokes out of thin clothing. The Wacoal Seamless Minimizer Bra is one of my favorites but even Amazon’s price of $62 is too much! The Lilyette Underwire Minimizer is a better value and great for those wanting a low cut bra. The material picks up lint a lot however.
Thanks for the link Joy! We are still working on a large bra shopping guide filled with links that we will post in the near future!
My daughter wears Panache bras. Teen bras are smaller in size compared to normal types of bras. In fact, teen bras include the smallest sizes among different types of bras because teenage girls have yet to have fully developed their bodies. She was wearing a training bra, which usually comes in small sizes however, her bust size is larger than those of most teens and she now has to wear adult bras. Another problem with teen bras is that they are usually made in vibrant colors and patterns since they are worn by young girls. These colors attract attention and are not a good idea for C or D cup girls.
I have little doubt about the growing size of the world’s boobs. I want companies to realize that bras are more than just underwear, they are necessary to keep big boobs supported and to stop injury to the breast tissue while playing sports. They need to balance function and fashion.
Expensive, but Panache does make a good bra. I tested a half dozen after reading this post. I did the classic “lift up your arms and see if everything stays in place.” If your bra pulls up across your breasts you need a smaller size bra, probably with a larger cup size. Panache’s larger sizes provide me with decent coverage. Thumbs up!
I usually look for a bra with two or three fastenings or hooks as I have found that these give the best support. How many hooks do larger panache bra’s have? I can’t find any stores that carry this brand where I live. TIA.
What does the article mean by “Ugly Sister Silhouette?” ???
I wear a Panache SuperBra Tango II Underwire.
They use strong wires with rounded edges and the hooks and rings are nylon coated metal. The whole bra seems strong and durable. And believe me, I have broken a bra or two in my years.
Another favorite of mine is the Panache Fiesta Balconnette Bra. Soft fabric without being think and heavy. Still surprisingly supportive.
I’m a 25 year old woman, who wants to look, well….sexy and beautiful. Unfortunately being a 32K (and still growing….my boobs are falling out of the bra I have…..worst thing is i’ve had it for merely 2 months!) K is the biggest bra size i can find it young “beautiful” bra’s (Beautiful being that there are only about 2 choices at http://www.bravissimo.co.uk that i would like to wear, otherwise i’m faced with maternity bra’s and “over the shoulder boulder holders” Does anyone know any sites, numbers etc of people who make bra’s for people with my problem?
Have you thought of buying a bra in a bigger back and having it taken in? Since a K is the largest sold in well everywhere try a 34K or 36K for the cup size, then get the back taken in by a tailor. If it’s done properly it’s wonderful.
Be careful not to go too big in the back because there is only so much they can take in without ruining the shape of the bra. Good luck!
I recommend going to a specialty shop to try on bras. Most of these shops will measure you and help you find something that fits. You can find a specialty shop by looking up stores in the yellow pages and asking them what brands and sizes they stock. Try bras in several different sizes from several different manufacturers but pay attention to the type of material. Some bra materials shrink in the wash.
I always have to check the front of these Panache bras because they never seem to sit as close to the skin I like. Other than that, they are great!
Marie – Have you checked out Figleaves.com? I myself have found a couple of different choices at their website.
I have ordered from Figleaves. Nothing but good things to say about them. My friends purchase their products every few months. Don’t rule out a Figleaves soft cup bra. Under wiring can be uncomfortable on a large bust so I try a variety of styles before choosing one. There are newer materials in soft cups that do give excellent bust support.
Again figleaves is the only company I have found that has the size I need and I have had wonderful experiences dealing with them.
Have you read this Sara? Sounds like good news!
Thanks Daniel – we will be posting an article about that soon.
I think it’s wonderful that K cup bras are available. It’s still a shame there are so few to choose from. For young women like myself (i’m 19) it’s really upsetting to go into a bra store and be asked if i had surgury due to my bust. And if it happens to me (30K) it will happen to other women as well. I was actually a little offended when i was reading other websites that posted the same article naming K cups as “monsterous” or “supersized”. Yes they are quite large, but would the same people refer to a C cup as “tiny” or “undersized”? No, because that would be cruel right? I don’t excatly see my “monsterous” breasts going and killing anyone soon.
@Alice Fincher: You make an excellent point. I never did think comments like “monsterous” and especially “supersized” can be somewhat offensive.
Btw, your last sentence was really funny.
Alice,
You said,

You should be offended! I tagged along several years back while out in the mall with a friend who was “blessed,” as she puts it, and I was shocked by the way she was treated while looking for a bra. She was a rather slender girl with a full bust (if memory serves 36 GG), and wanted to find a “comfortable” bra for work. The sales person at one store even commented that they didn’t carry anything that “massive.” She was very sarcastic in her tone and summarily dismissed my friend and turned to another customer! My friend was very tolerant and simply pressed on to another shop. She finally found an older lady in Lane Bryant that not only helped her, but took the time to step in and help her with the fitting and such. I never forgot how much work it took for her to find what she needed and how poorly she was treated in some places. She is a super nice lady and did nothing to deserve any of the poor treatment.
Respectfully
John
Great post John! Inspirational and honest. Thanks for sharing!
It happens all to often that women get treated rudely going into lingerie stores looking for anything over a DD. The women working those stores can be wonderful (like the bra fitter i go to) or they can be just bitter and lazy shop staff (like the ones you referred to a first). It is terrible that they can get away with speaking to women like that. In one store i when i was treated the most rudely was an older woman asking me if i had implants then going on and on about it like i was a circus freak, (and that was a year and 3 cup-sizes ago) needless to say i went straight to the manager and the woman was dealt with. But how many women just get bullied into the wrong size? Or simply get too embarrassed to go bra shopping?
Great suggestion!
