Men subconciously look for a woman with high fertility (think the hip to waist ratio thing). They don't realize it. Same as certain traits in men for women. So a small waist, big buttocks, big boobs would probably be more attractive to the subconcious in that sense. As well, like said before, bigger breasts have more fat which looks healitier. Smaller chests would be either an older woman or a woman too young to have children. Thats not to say men don't like little boobs either. My best friend is a 34B (hates that) and her boyfriend thinks that is awesome! You will always find someone that loves what you hate so for those girls who are self-concious of you boobies, don't worry, someone else loves them :)

I've been called 'Jessica Rabbit' for years, more so by women than men. I can tell you, women are far more interested in my breasts than any guy is. So I agree with this article 110%. Especially the "Smaller boob cleavage equals cute and classy. Large boob cleavage equals trailer-park trash", that plays a role in my life almost daily. Again, mostly women viewing it this way. It's crazy how women can be so obsessed with something when we'd think it were men. Haha

But I have to say, I'll spend MAYBE $40 on shoes and bras I have to spend minimum $80 on (28E not available in most retail departments). I wouldn't have it any other way. I nice fitting, pretty bra, makes me feel awesome in any outfit. Shoes can either hurt my feet or not go with what I'm wearing. The lingerie, almost always does :)

Oh - one more thing; large breasts on a slim body with a big round butt is associated with high fertility. Even though most guys today don't care anything about a girl's fertility, preferring that she not have any, their DNA "wants" to perpetuate itself. And, for thousands of years most men wanted large families. So, big breasts in comparison to the rest of the girl's body attracts male attention. It's a cultural and genetic thing.

Perhaps they don't want to spend $65 on a bra that won't be any less uncomfortable than a much cheaper bra. Women have told me that ALL bras, from cheap to expensive, vary only in the degree of uncomfortableness. Some cheap ones are better than some expensive ones.

Wide shoulder straps, wide underbreast bands, lacy or wide open weave or knit, and just snug enough to keep bouncing and swinging down to an "acceptable" level seems to be the closest thing to success in bra selection there is. Snug cups that move with the breasts keep the nipples from rubbing against fabric. The outside of the bra cup takes all the rubbing.

The 1950s style with the reinforced rigid cups holds the outside of the breasts relatively still on the chest but the internal parts of the breasts, the milk glands, tubules and blood vessels sort of slosh around inside in the fatty padding, which can irritate those parts. So it seems best for the bra to let the breasts bounce and jiggle but just keep the amount of movement on the chest down.

The author brings up a good point that most stores sell bras and undergarments designed more to be seen by men than to be worn by women. Most everything I see in stores are fashion first function second.

dee, I know enough about Sara's website from reading everything she posts to know that Hiddenfeet is a place of respect for breasts of ALL sizes. The simple fact that you have the courage to visit a big boob website like hiddenfeet shows how open minded you are.

Girls with big boobs - Im DD my mom and younger sister are E- have just as tough a time in life as those with small boobs. The more we learn about our bodies the more comfortable we will become around each other.

Tammy,

If you are interested in looking into fertility goddesses and such, you might want to check out the Venus of Willendorf. She is one of the most famous Paleolithic female figurines every discovered. There are many theories on her significance and origins. One that intrigues me was proposed by Leroy McDermott. While the figurine is extremely busty he believes that it is due to the angel from which the artist viewed the subject. It is in effect a self portrait according to McDermott. I wrote a paper for Art class on this subject and here is a short excerpt from that paper.

“One striking similarity between objects from different locations is the common lack of facial features. This, McDermott contends is due to the fact that one cannot see one's self without using something like a mirror. To illustrate this point McDermott presents images of a woman standing erect with her head bowed. Although she can see her body, it is obviously impossible to see her own face. In this position, as demonstrated through the eye of a camera, her body appears distorted and foreshortened. According to the author, this subject was a "26-year-old mother-to-be with a 34C bust." Juxtaposed photographs of this woman to that of "The Venus of Willendorf" present a striking resemblance. Viewed from a normal perspective the Willendorf statuette appears to have extraordinarily large breasts that seem to hang heavily from her chest. Although average in size when shot from a "self" perspective McDermott's modern subject appears to be almost as disproportionately endowed.”

The resources used for this paper are listed below.

As a side note to Tammy's comment there is historical evidence to back this theory up. One need look no further than the fertility goddess statues from Africa, or India or other cultures. These idols portrayed voluptuous females of ample bosom that represented the ideal mate for these cultures. Speaking of which an article about said fertility figures would be a great addition to the site. Both for their relevance and historical significance.

I think there are lots of reasons people like big breasts. One theory I learned in school was that evolutionary biologists think that a lot of the physical traits we consider attractive have a sound basis in genetics. Choosing the right mate obviously is a very important decision and larger breasts indicate adequate stores of subcutaneous fat, which can be viewed as a sign of health. Flat breasts may indicate a post-menopausal woman who is no longer able to have children and therefore not an ideal mate from the evolutionary perspective.
